The Summer Urban Agriculture Work Program is a job training opportunity for youth who live in one of the Lighthouse Youth Services’ group homes or youth who live in Madisonville.
Over the 8 week program the youth learn how to tend to the garden, harvest produce, use power tools, and learn to cook and eat the produce they helped raise.
They create educational signs and engage in community service activities, such as making produce deliveries to the doors of home-bound seniors at the St. Paul’s retirement home in Madisonville and working at the Madisonville Garden Market.
